Check Out Gatlinburg’s Christmas Lights from the Top of this Mountain Coaster (Have Your Camera Ready!)

The City of Gatlinburg turned on its Christmas Lights on the 7th of November, turning the entire town into a winter wonderland. There are many ways to see the lights, such as going for a drive around town. But by far the best way to see them is to take a ride on the mountain coaster where you will be able to see the city skyline as you glide down the mountainside in your single or two-seat cart. Don’t forget to bring your camera with you!

It Gets Dark Here Early

The Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster is open all year round; we don’t let the winter weather or snow slow us down. In fact, the only time anything around here slows down is when someone uses the brakes on their cart to slow themselves! Now that the clocks have been set back, it gets dark here pretty early. Just like the snow, we don’t let a little darkness stop our fun. In fact, our entire track is open all evening long and is lit by thousands of miniature lights from top to bottom. If you don’t touch the brakes on the way down, it feels like you are flying through a tunnel of light.

But wait, we were talking about the Gatlinburg Christmas lights. One of the great things about the Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster is that you are in control of how fast or slow you go down the side of the mountain using the handbrake each cart is equipped with. If you come during the day, riding our mountain coaster at full speed can be an amazing experience, especially if is snowing. However, it’s the night ride that lets you see the city’s holiday lights in all their splendor.

But Why the Mountain Coaster?

The Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster offers one of the best views of Gatlinburg. From the top of the coaster, you can see the whole city spread out before you. This is the perfect spot to break out the camera and take tons of pictures. But it gets even better; you are in complete control of how fast your cart travels down the track.  Being able to do this enables you to stop on the way down in the spots where you can see the lights and take even more photographs.

Your primary goal while riding the mountain coaster down to the bottom might be to see the lights and take a few pictures. But, if you are riding with a loved one or a friend, be sure to stop and take a few shots of each other and of course a few selfies with Gatlinburg’s Christmas lights in the background. Talk about creating some amazing memories that are sure to last a lifetime!

It does get pretty chilly up on the mountain this time of year, so be sure everyone is bundled up against the cold. You might want to make sure everyone has a cup of hot cocoa to keep them warm while waiting for their ride. Take a ride on the Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster and enjoy the city lights as you slide gently down the mountainside.
