Welcome to the Smokies! Where the air is clear, the streams are fresh, the fish are biting, and the shoppers are shopping. And the kids are getting bored with all this slow-motion activity. Maybe it’s time to shake things up a bit with a visit to the original Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster in downtown Gatlinburg, TN!
Feel the Wind in Your Hair!
Imagine the thrill of flying down a mountain with the wind in your hair, the sun on your face…and you in total control of your speed! The Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster was the first mountain coaster in the Smokies and is still a popular ride for the whole family today. Take a break from shopping and hiking, and experience the thrill of racing down a mountain on the Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster!
A Ride for Everyone
The Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster is perfect for all family members – young, old, and everyone in between. Even the little ones can ride as long as they’re 3 years old or older, meet the 38” height requirement, and ride with an adult. The cars can seat one or two riders so older riders (taller than 56”) can choose to go alone if Mom and Dad are okay with that. Your speed is controlled with a hand brake so you can go as fast or as slow as you’re comfortable with. You’re in control!
Getting to the top of the mountain coaster is easy. The uphill lift system carries you up and deposits you at the top. Hop in the car, fasten the safety belts, and glide back down the mountain soundlessly on the tracks. No motors or engines here. Just downward gravitational pull to get you to the bottom. And remember…the ride itself is silent but you don’t have to be. You can yell all the way down if you want. Have fun and do it your way!
Shake Up Your Day!
The Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster is one of the best attractions in Gatlinburg and is open every day of the week from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., regardless of weather. Rain, snow or shine, it’s the perfect way to shake up your day and give the kids a break from some of the slower-paced activities in the area. Make sure you schedule time to ride the Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster. You’ll be glad you did, and your kids will thank you, too!
