Speed Demons Will Love the Thrill of Gatlinburg’s Mountain Coaster

Everybody knows somebody with a real need for speed. You know the type; no matter the situation, they want just a little bit more than what they’ve got, and – oh yeah – just a little bit faster, too.

When they pick a movie, there’s a ton of action and explosions, and when they get behind the wheel, well – let’s just say that sometimes it doesn’t hurt to have a backseat driver reminding everyone how much a speeding ticket costs. Speed demons are real; it’s just who they are, and they couldn’t change if they wanted to.

So, what do you do with the speed demons in your life while vacationing in the Smokies, when you just want to settle in and enjoy all the relaxing things to do in Gatlinburg?

Send Those Speed Demons Zooming Down the Mountains

The Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster is no slouch when it comes to speed, and good thing – your speed demons have got an itch they need scratched, after all. The coaster goes up to 35 miles an hour, which may not seem like much compared to a car ride, but when there’s nothing between you and the wind roaring past, well…35 miles an hour won’t just blow your hair back – it’ll keep it there. Expect heart-pumping fun, and a few twists and turns along the way.

Not a Speed Demon? No Problem!

Speed isn’t for everyone, and the Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster knows this. That’s why each roller coaster car has its own braking system, so riders can navigate the course at any speed they like. If the sights of Tennessee’s vistas are more exciting to you than the speed you can take on Tennessee’s hills, this mountain coaster is for you, too.

There are some great lookout points on the way down, and if you want to fully appreciate them, just pull on the brake, take in the view, and even grab a few snapshots if you want. This mountain coaster is in the middle of the Tennessee forest, right near Great Smoky Mountains National Park, so if you take things a little slower, you may catch a glimpse of some wildlife, too. Maybe you’ll spot a raccoon, or even a deer. It’s been known to happen, and who says the speed demons should get everything?
